| Prerequisite
Audition |
-
Previous choral or instrumental experience.
- Ability to read music, sing independently and have some
music theory skills.
- Applicants that have not participated in previous AYS programs
will audition by singing
an unaccompanied song and sight-read both the melody and harmony
of a hymn or folk tune.
-Current
members of the AYS Treble Concert Choir may audition to advance
to the Youth Chorale. Click here

Preparation for the transition to college, civic or professional
choral organizations.
- How to make a healthy vocal transition from the immature
to the mature voice.
- Coaching for the changed male voice.
- Advanced repertoire appropriate to vocal maturity.
- How to be a mentor to younger singers.
- How to lead by example through good rehearsal and performance
discipline and skill. |

| Rehearsals |

Once a week on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m.
- Rehearsals are held at Shallowford Presbyterian Church.
- The program is concurrent with the school year. Beginning
in August and continuing through May. Specific dates can be
found on our Calendar. |
| Performances |

The Youth Chorale appears with the Atlanta Young Singers of
Callanwolde in concert at least three times per season.
- The group also performs for many civic and service organizations
as well as community events and business conventions. |
| Tours |
- Youth
Chorale members are eligible to audition for Major Tours.
-
Occasionally the Youth Chorale will accept out of town engagements
or participate in independent 7-10 day Tours. |
| Retreat |
-
All students are eligible to attend a weekend retreat filled
with music and fun activities.
- The cost of camp averages $150 to $185. |
| Tuition |
-
Annual tuition is $525 plus a $50 registration fee.
- Scholarships
are available based on financial need and musical ability. |
| Uniforms |

Formal: black skirt and top for girls with accessory pieces;
black pants, black shirt and black tie for boys
- Informal: black pants and AYS uniform shirt. |
