About Regional Tours

Performance and Apprentice Choirs at the Nashville Parthanon in 2005.

The primary purpose of Regional Tours is to educate the singers. Performances are a secondary goal.

Tours are organized around an event in a city’s cultural community such as a music festival. Regional Tours may result from an invitation or AYS staff locating and securing an opportunity.

What is a Regional Tour?

  • The opportunity to participate in a tour within the Southeast is offered once per season.
  • Tours may last 3 to 4 days depending on the destination.
  • Singers travel by bus with AYS staff and chaperones.
  • Whenever possible, home stays are arranged with host families.

Who is eligible to participate?

  • Regional Tour alternates every other year between Treble Concert Choir and Youth Chorale.
  • Participation is based on demonstrated good rehearsal and performance behavior.

How much does it cost?

  • Tour costs vary depending on destination and duration. Recent Regional Tour costs have ranged between $250 and $350.
  • Scholarships are available based on financial need and the musical skill of the singer.
