Artistic Commitment
AYS is an education-centered organization, but one that functions
as a professional entity in the community. Singers represent themselves,
Atlanta and the U.S. when they perform in local events and on tour.
Our ability to present a consistent artistic product in a professional
manner is a very important part of our program.
To
attain our artistic goals, the AYS has the following expectations
of both Singers and Parents:
|
Singers
|
Parents
|
- Love Music!
- Attend each rehearsal and performance as assigned.
- Notify the office of planned absences.
- Listen attentively to the director and music assistants during rehearsals and performances.
- Learn new songs and skills at rehearsal and commit them to memory - then practice at home.
- Keep music folio in good shape and bring it to every rehearsal.
- Wear the proper uniform to each concert.
|
- Be punctual for arrival and pick-up of young singers.
- Provide properly fitted formal and informal uniforms.
- Check child's appearance before each performance.
- Keep uniforms clean and neat.
- Encourage learning by going over words to songs at home.
- Read the AYSC Weekly Updates and other information that comes home or is posted on the web site.
- Volunteer as much as you can. Your skills and interests can be matched with the organization's needs.
- Plan ahead for AYSC expenses such as participation in tours and summer camp.
