What
to expect at your AYS AUDITION:
Children
audition in a relaxed atmosphere that allows them to become acquainted
with Staff Members. Each child is asked to prepare a song
they know well and can present confidently. The song is performed
unaccompanied in a one-on-one situation with Music
Director, Paige Mathis or another AYS Music Staff Member
. Children are evaluated in the areas of vocal tone, pitch
accuracy, pitch dependence, aural skill and personal interest in
music. Older children and Youth Chorale applicants may also be asked
to demonstrate their skill levels in reading and counting music.
While
the child spends time with the Music Director or music staff member,
parents have the opportunity to talk with another staff member or
parent volunteer about AYS . An audition packet
is presented, and time is allowed for questions.
