ATLANTA
YOUNG SINGERS
of Callanwolde is a choir where talented Singers bring
music skills and appreciation into all aspects of life.
AYS
is more than a simple choral program– it provides a diverse
and challenging learning environment that inspires intelligent
thought, artistic creativity and personal growth. AYS Singers
come from 85 different public, private, and home |
school
environments covering a 50-mile radius of Atlanta.
Each
year 150 to 200 children from age 7 to 18 (2rd – 12th grade) are
accepted into the AYS.
AYS
brings together a diverse group of kids from a
wide range of backgrounds to work together and build relationships.
AYS
strengthens personal life skills such as self-discipline,
confidence, responsibility and teamwork.
AYS
allows children to explore different cultures through
music.
AYS
represents Atlanta to the world through artistically
proficient musical perfomances.
AYS
offers in-depth education about music training,
theory and history, which also has a direct impact on scholastic
achievement.
Mission
Statement
The
purpose of the ATLANTA YOUNG SINGERS of Callanwolde is three-fold:
(1) to provide a program of exceptionally fine training in choral
singing for boys and girls, which will develop their appreciation
of and talents in choral and musical artistry; (2) to encourage
the personal growth of each singer through individual responsibility
and group cooperation; and (3) to advance the choral art form by
presenting traditional and innovative music through the voices of
children in live performances to local, national and international
communities.
